FOGS Employment Expos Launched
The first in a series of six FOGS Indigenous Employment and Careers Expos was staged in Townsville during April with over 2500 Indigenous job seekers attending the event.
Fourty prominent education, employment and training providers including Xstrata, Telstra, TAFE Queensland, Virgin Blue and Ergon Energy exhibited at the expo held yesterday, Wednesday 29 April, at the Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre.
Managed by Major League the expo provided Indigenous job seekers with the unique opportunity to connect directly with employers from a wide range of industries including building and construction, postal, nursing, electrical, retail, food services, transport, mining, tourism and environment.
The expo also featured appearances by Origin Greats from Queensland's "Team of the Century" Mal Meninga, Gene Miles, Allan Langer and Arthur Beetson, joined by fellow Origin legends Michael Hancock, Sam Backo and Greg Conescu.
Major League looks forward to managing the 2009 FOGS Indigenous Employment and Careers Expo in the remaining five locations on the dates listed below.
